Storm Lord

Weekly Writing Challenge #170

(5) Words: | LATE | STORM | FRAME | STRIKE | WRAP |

Late storm strikes minor

Damage to frame in which

Heart is love-wrapped

Hand of Mercy reaches down

Stretches, reshapes, polishes

With grace to restore.

Onward (#writephoto)

Thursday photo prompt: Onward #writephoto

Into the where, when

How; wide “what’s next?”…onward we

Push, press, stride, saunter

Perhaps with heart’s eagerness

Or mute straggler’s reticence

~

We dare not turn back

Death-snags on that empty path

Souls’ have Destiny

Intended for something grand

Ahead, whispered dream astounds

Shopping Daze

In Other Words, shopping…

Image: Pixabay.com

Gone, mall-crawling daze

Pulse-jumping hypnotic trance

Stopping at each shop

Arms breaking with weighty bags…

Now, Amazon hooks my debt

Too many allures

At fault, over-gifting heart

Pays bills all New Year

Waiting for Something Forgotten

https://debbiewhittam.wordpress.com/2018/12/06/50-word-thursday-30/

Prompt phrase:  “She discovered it by accident on her fourth day at the lake.”

(Completed piece must be in multiples of 50 words – maximum 250.)

It was to be a solitary rest cure

At secluded lake, a healing place

Because she couldn’t connect

The dots anymore…and this lake

Was so pleasant, quiet, still.

Hopes expectant, he’d delivered

Her there, then left.

Four days in, she discovered

The train station…

She sat down to wait.

Grace-Filled Wings (3LineTales)

Three Line Tales, Week 149

photo by Boris Smokrovic via Unsplash

Mid-holiday heart-storms interrupted gratitude, expectant hopes of Season…

But, on startlingly exquisite grace-filled wings, merciful God sent fresh Holy wind…

Madness and mourning, dark-long-night, melted with frost in JOY a-dawning.

“In his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” Psalm 30:5, King James Version

“For You have been my help, And in the shadow of Your wings I sing for joy.” Psalm 63:7, New American Standard Bible

Waiting for

The road Home

To appear…

My breakwater, Gone-love

Remains a life-unlived

No surge of expression

Left in soul, familiarity

Affords paltry drug-like balm

Palliative remedy

For, heart is shade

Within shadows

So tiptoe, please

Our painted world

Is where mercurial

Madness stalks

WAITING

Thanks to all the authors of prompts, listed at end of poem ~

Pummeled in the waiting

By hail, freezing rain that falls

On both just and unjust—year’s

Challenges, one atop another

Barely time to collect prayers’ rest

Heart nearly frozen

What’s become of Faith’s song

Joyous hope, anchor’s rope which

Tethers in every mercurial season?

Dark storm blows in, as if to remain

I’m lassoing wind, but missing each catch…

Gasping, tearless, this December.

Confused as to “why”, begging a reason

As first I push back, rage against battle

Waiting for hell’s last volley to end

Waiting for smoke, fog to clear, for

Frozen bells to chime arrival, at last

Of Christmas Child, His peace to bring

The only gift soul, panting, requests

Including His promise, Jeremiah’s

“Good future”…and surcease, please

From calamity’s visits.

What is left, but to surrender…wait

For His appearing, certain; wait

For powerful Hand to take night—

Gargoyle’d, lasting all the day—roll

It with rough waves, away…

And usher Eastern Star, come bright

A-shine like jar of Glory’s glittering

Light upon shore, refreshed and balmy.

Then soul, chagrined, will sing again

Exult in God, faithful Father of orphans

Youthful ones, and those not young…

For, ever He rises to deliver Victory.

Immanuel, Messiah, Christ…

Lord of all, in the frozen Waiting.

The Road Home

What do you See? Dec/04/2018

It’s a long way to Forever

Seems I’ve been walking miles

And miles, days and more days

But I can see it, gleaming ahead

Creator’s colors, Crayola box full

Spark-blooming fireworks play with sun

Video preview of joys to come…

As if balloons were tied to my shoulders

I feel lighter with every step

Lifted from road ‘neath hurrying feet

Eager, approaching God’s front porch…

“Welcome to Glory, son—you’re home!”

My Breakwater

https://sammiscribbles.wordpress.com/2018/12/01/weekend-writing-prompt-83-breakwater/

PROMPT:  58 words exactly.

Image: Pixabay.com

You are my Breakwater

Lord above storms…

They come a-rising

Tsunami waves threaten

To consume all calm

Glad gratitude…

My shores quake with

Remembered assaults

Lightning strikes of childhood

Cruelty’s thunder from those

Assigned to provide

Love, nurture…

But YOU, Jesus

Christ, unmovable Rock

Stand strong amid winds

Arms outstretched, one

Holds waters back

The other embraces me.

Wolf Therapy

Twittering Tales #113 – 4 December 2018

So you DID return, Wolf

I should have known

I recall your kind wisdom

Generosity often

Your therapy room full

Of things fascinating to

Wounded hearts, minds, souls

I still have pastel you coaxed

Me to draw, ‘Journey’

Hope you’d be pleased

How far I’ve come

Good to see you

On crisp winter day

Gone-Love, Life Unlived

V.J.’s Weekly Challenge #25: Un-lived Lives

You were my unlived life…

Mere child, I looked in your

Oceanic eyes, rode the planes

Of your face with my fingertips

Through glass of picture frame

Kissed coolness of your lips there

And clung like drowning girl

To your voice, every intonation

Heard from farthest-afar.

I knew you in silhouetted profile and

Purposeful posture, stride…each gesture.

It was love, dire need, passion, unrequited

Longing…adoring obsession.

Imagination intense, pictorial, I would never

“Grow out of” this attachment, dislocated

Parallel life—nor traverse infeasible

Distance in time, miles, heart.

Impossible was only a technicality, my

Soul assured…you would have walked

Same streets as I, hand in hand, if you could

If there were not 32 years, a million miles

A sequestered world defining our boundaries.

At every crossroad, crisis, I reached for you

In dark labyrinth of hunger…found you there.

When you no longer occupied Island of Earth

Having sailed final voyage…restrictions

Dissolved, nothing left to encumber…you became

Mine, unfettered…gone-love-ghost forever…

My life-unlived preserved in amber.

Surge of Expression

Weekly Writing Challenge #169

(5) Words: | RANT | BOW | SURGE | PAGE | SPIN |

Image: Pixabay.com

Pages spin, surge of words…

Voices rant, bow before Creator God

Who holds wealth of all dictionaries

As well as every soul who opens lips

To utter with native tongue or

Writing tool, heart’s outpouring:

Wisdom, yearning, contempt, ardor

Frustration, shame, compassion, ache

Of longing, humor, excruciating agony

Exquisite joy…the whole human

Experience in its infinite variations.

His love and mercy embrace, celebrate

Our complexities with gladness that

He made us to be fully alive…not

Emotionless machines.
